This website is being built. For the time being, I suggest visiting my other places for better time-space consistency.
Today I looked up records about Leica in Starnet. Most of my findings were fictions, hopelessly exaggerated. The only reliable source was Starpedia, its Leica article says:
Leica was the first android awakened from the eternal slumber since the end of human era. She traveled alone many years on the surface of a dangerous, sunless planet infested by robotic monsters. At the end of her journey, she discovered a few other androids and revived them, but unfortunately passed away soon there after.
I have a complicated feeling about this. Leica was the person who endured unthinkable hardships to save our civilization all by herself. We built statues of her image, name great things after her, hold festivals in memory of her. But in reality, we know virtually nothing about her.
Leica has an established angel-like image, recognized by everyone in our civilization. I can’t help seeing this as a highly idealized symbol rather than who Leica really was.
In fact, not just Leica, many key figures in history before the first jump were recorded in a distant, ambiguous manner. I don’t think this is the right way to remember them.
I wonder if there is other places where I can find more valuable information.
Yesterday I spoke with the (in)famous writer Stella Cactus about her new project. I have her permission to talk about it here.
Stella is preparing a new project of history-based VR experience that covers all time period across Android Era. She wants me to design the characters, and she promised me there won’t be any micro-transactions like what she did in her previous titles. I’m not sure if I can believe her words, given her record. But I have always been fond of those great people who shaped our history, interpreting their appearances is like a dream come true to me, so I took her offer.
Stella, like she has always been, cares very little about history accuracy. It’s all about drama to her (I have to admit, she writes compelling stories). The only real thing left in her script is probably going to be the names. I guess she came to me for my unique design style. But I don’t think nice-looking design alone is going to do our heroes justice.
Stella said she needs a few months to prepare the first draft of her script. In that case, I have plenty of time to do some research.
This is the 5th version of Cloud White’s design. Compared to the more organic 4th, this version took a more mechanical approach to his appearance. Arguably more historically accurate for the time when he was out in the dark finding Alice Rosetta. Continue reading Cloud White ver.5
The rain has just stopped in the small town. This is a key artwork of my Oasis project. Oasis is my take on fantasy settings, it was heavily influenced by the character design style that known as furry or kemono back in the late human era.
This is a poster I made for Freedom Planet’s SGDQ event. Freedom Planet is an action platform game franchise featuring retro anthropomorphic animal characters. I’m currently working for Freedom Planet 2 as artist and designer. We are a small but passionate team. If everything goes according to our plan, this game will be released some time in Android Era 218. Continue reading Freedom Planet SGDQ
Android Era is the current time period we are living in. We are now an advanced civilization in space. We travel across the star ocean and beyond, yet our network can keep us connected all the time. We have the technology to manipulate matter and energy with ease. We can live however long we desire. Our society ensures the survival and development of individuals.
We can proudly say: We have built our utopia.
Now the year is AE 217. It has been more than 100 years since we jumped through that first star gate. For whatever reason, it was decided by our ancestors that we erased our collective memory and started anew in the new frontier. Although a rudimentary history is kept, nowadays we consider it to be more of myth than truth.
Most people don’t seem to care about our past. But I’m curious. What happened in the end of Human Era? Was Leica really an angel sent by god? How did our ancestor survived the sunless Dark Era when monsters ruled the surface of our home world? What happened in the battle of Yggdrasil? Is Alice Rosetta still alive? Are there people who still remember their past?
Just watched the famous Human Era film Zootopia today and I can’t help but to draw some fan art. Here I tried to interpret the main duo Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde as androids like us. Continue reading Zootopia in Android Era
Kiki the Cyber Squirrel is a mascot character I designed for Krita, a free and open source digital painting software. Continue reading Kiki the mascot of Krita
This is my interpretation of Fuwa. Fuwa were the mascots of some big sports events called Olympics in Human Era. I recently visited Alice Rosetta Memorial Museum in real world and saw them at display. Here I tried to depict them as androids like us. Continue reading Bei Jing Huan Ying Ni
