Kongshan Valley (Chinese: 空山秘境 “Empty Valley”) is a spirit realm in Nancheng (Chinese: 南城 “South Town”), Dongguan City, hidden deep within Shuilian Mountain (Chinese: 水濂山 “Water Curtain Mountain”). It features a vast interior space with complex terrain of interwoven mountains and rivers, including maze-like cave and underground river system. The entrance is located to the north, with its internal space seemingly extending endlessly southward. Its full extent remains unexplored.

This location was first discovered by Wukong the Spirit Monkey during the Tang Dynasty. It houses the Water Curtain Cave (Chinese: 水帘洞) where he resided after retirement. To honor him, later generations of spirit animals named it “Kongshan Valley,” reflecting his Dharma name “Wukong” and symbolizing “The empty valley left by Wukong” (kong means empty in Chinese).

Kongshan Valley is now used as a farm and secret base by Dongguan Spirit Animal Association. They also manage the “Wukong’s Former Residence” tourist attraction for spirit animal visitors. Every weekend, Libbie the Spirit Oryx and Yanhua the Spirit Wolf will come here to help with the work.
