Spirit realms (Chinese: 灵境) are abnormal spaces formed by the influence of karma and spirit power in the environment. The physics within these realms differ from those outside, resulting in various strange phenomena. Some suitable spirit realms may be transformed into secret bases and passages by spirit animals.
Properties
Hidden Space: The spirit realms are hidden space that cannot be easily observed from the outside. Only by entering them can one see its true state. Only by entering can one perceive their true nature. Some realms have vague boundaries, allowing free entry and exit, while others require spirit power to access their entrances.
Strange Phenomena: In the spirit realm, physics operate differently than in the outside world, leading to various strange phenomena, such as landscapes composed of fragments from the nearby external environment, abnormal gravity, and distorted spatial dimensions.
Ties with nearby environment: Spirit realms are closely tied to their surrounding environments; changes in the surroundings can lead to alterations or even collapse of the spirit realm’s internal structure.
Instability: Spirit realms are in a constant cycle of creation and destruction. Larger realms tend to be more stable and can last for ages, while smaller ones change frequently. Tiny realms, which even spirit animals cannot enter, typically exist only for a very short time.
Shrouded in mystery: Modern spirit animals have yet to understand the principle of spirit realms, only speculating them as pockets of high-dimensional spaces created under the influence of spirit power and karma.
Utilization
Spirit animals often use stable spirit realms as hideouts, away from human sight. Realms connecting multiple locations are used as secret passageways. The Fengtai Observatory in Guancheng and the Kongshan Valley on Shuilian Mountain in Nancheng were spirit realms discovered by ancient spirit animals in Dongguan.
Monitoring
Due to the potential danger posed by spirit realms, many local spirit animal associations have set up spirit power sensors throughout their cities to detect new realms and signs of instability. Volunteers from these associations will mark the realms and use spells to seal off dangerous ones, preventing unaware spirit animals or humans from accidentally entering.
