Cloud (full name: Cloud White, Chinese: 白云) is a rabbit-type robot from the Evernight Era. As a member of the Snowfield Expedition Teams, he discovered and awakened Alice, a robot from the Sunset Era, and accompanies her on a new journey. Cloud is a talented warrior who is humble and polite but lacks confidence and seeks recognition from others.

Origin

Cloud is a citizen of the Geocity of the Evernight Era. He is the last member of the White family, a robot family facing dissolution. His name and appearance are inspired by Alice‘s pet rabbit, Cloud, according to Aizu mythology.

Personality

Innocent and naive: Cloud is an innocent and naive person who takes things at face value, making him easily deceived.

Emotion-driven and intuitive: Cloud often acts on intuition and emotions rather than deep analysis, yet his instincts are usually spot-on. While he hasn’t fully grasped the robot civilization‘s current predicament, he senses that something is not right.

Inferiority complex and yearning for external approval: The Engineers Association‘s advice to dissolve the White family has led Cloud to experience deep self-doubt. He seeks validation from others, hoping to change family’s reputation so it can be rebuilt. However, negative feedback from the Engineers Association hinders his self-confidence, and he often loses sight of his own strengths. To prove his worth to his co-players in the virtual universe, he joined the Snowfield Expedition Teams.

Social dependence: Cloud is heavily dependent on his virtual social network. Whenever there is access to Geocity‘s network, he connects with his “comrades” and participates in their campaigns. He occasionally invites Alice to join them, too.

Humble and polite: Cloud always behaves elegantly and treats others with courtesy. He maintains a humble attitude and is skilled at socializing.

Specialties

Talented warrior: Cloud is a robot with a natural talent for combat. He is equally skilled in both the Virtual Universe and the real world.

A new type of robotic body: Cloud’s physical body is a unique model designed for combat and testing new technologies. Its most distinctive feature is the two large floating hands, which can attach to the torso or hover nearby. The fingers are as thick as regular robot arms, with fists 4-5 times larger than normal ones, and even bigger when the palms are open. Their free-floating nature eliminates attack dead zones, making Cloud’s iconic slap moves harder to dodge. The ears can fire various ammunition or emit jamming signals.

Some parts of the hands are made of programmable shape-shifting materials, mainly for the connecting mechanism to the shoulders and the armors on the back of the hands. With the ability to self-repair surface damage (consumes power), the back of Cloud’s hands also serve as his shields.

In order to operate standardized equipment, Cloud’s body also has a pair of tiny hidden flexible arms, though they are quite fragile.

Cloud’s tail unit contains a set of atomic batteries to generate power for his basic needs. He also has a cloak-like add-on to provide insulation and to generate power from moonlight and starlight.

Flexible and creative usage of body: Cloud can make flexible and creative use of his body. He can use his huge floating hands as a snowboard, a workbench, or as a “cart” to carry things. When Alice‘s old body malfunctioned and could no longer walk, Cloud carried her to the Expedition Team’s campsite in his “hand cart”.

Life

Dissolution of White family and Cloud’s persistence: The White family, where Cloud is from, received a dissolution advise from the Robot Engineers Association due to its members’ lack of significant contributions to society. The other family members quickly changed their surnames and joined different families without objection. Only Cloud insisted on retaining the White surname and preserving the family’s existence.

Rejected by Shadow Vigilantes: Cloud once applied to join the Shadow Vigilantes, but failed the entry evaluation. Moreover, the Vigilantes indicated that even if he passed, the Engineers Association might not grant an extra job quota.

Life in the Virtual Universe: Unable to find a meaningful job, Cloud spent his time aimlessly in the Virtual Universe. As an active 2-tier combat gamer, he fought in numerous battles across sub-worlds and was considered a key pillar of his teams.

Joining the Snowfield Expedition Teams: Cloud has always felt unfulfilled in the Virtual Universe. The embarrassing situation of the White family made him a target for mockery. Once, after losing focus and making a mistake, his teammates teased him about being unreliable due to his background. To prove himself, Cloud decided to take the “Real World Challenge” and join the Snowfield Expedition Teams as a tourist. Although his opponent quickly withdrew from the challenge, Cloud chose not to return to the Virtual Universe immediately after winning. Instead, he set off with the Teams on their new expedition. Becoming a new-type body tester: Under Zoey‘s arrangement, Cloud became the tester for Tonyn’s newly developed robotic body.

Trained by Amber: During the expedition, Cloud received one-on-one combat training from Amber, co-founder of the Shadow Vigilantes, and sharpened his skills in real-world encounters with snow bandits.

Becoming Alice’s bodyguard: After finding Alice, Cloud accompanies her on her journey and uses his combat skills to ensure her safety.

Relationships

Alice, Cloud’s journey companion: After discovering Alice from the sunset era ruins, Cloud was attracted by her unique personality and chose to be her guide and bodyguard in the Evernight Era. In doing so, he also hopes to find the meaning of life. He does not believe that Alice is Aizu herself.

Amber, Cloud’s idol and combat instructor: Amber is the co-founder of the Shadow Vigilantes and Cloud’s combat instructor during the expedition when he discovered Alice. She taught him the fundamentals of real-world fighting and much more.

Zoey, Cloud’s appearance designer: Cloud once won a major match in the Virtual Universe, earning the chance for Zoey to design his avatar. However, he disliked Zoey’s overly decorative style and passed the opportunity to the runner-up, which created a one-sided “grudge” from Zoey. When Zoey learned that Cloud was going to compete in a real world challenge, he offered Cloud a new, specially designed body engineered by Tonyn to incentivize Cloud to use his appearance design.

Tonyn, Cloud’s robotic body engineer: Tonyn is the engineeer of Cloud’s robotic body that packed with innovative ideas and new technologies. As a tester, Cloud often uses the body in ways that exceed Tonyn’s expectations.
