Geocity (Evernight Era)

Geocity is the last city of the robot civilization in the Evernight Era, located beneath a snowfield and built inside a coal mine.

History

At the end of the Sunset Era, the disappearance of the sun caused the Earth to rapidly cool down. Humans hastily built underground shelters using existing mines to evacuate the remaining population, known as the “Geocities.”However, most Geocities failed due to design and management issues. When Alice woke up, only one Geocity remained operational, which is now referred to simply as “the Geocity.”

Structure and Facilities

Geocity is built beneath the snowfield inside of a coal mine, reaching several hundred meters deep underground. The central area features a large shaft connected to various mine tunnel layers via elevators and staircases. Some layers span several kilometers in diameter, with heavy equipment and supplies primarily found in the lower levels.

Geocity does not have commercial or residential areas, as most robots no longer live in the real world and do not require physical bodies, possessions, or living spaces.

On the ground floor of Geocity is a towering skyscraper that connects to the central shaft, extending up to the snowfield surface and serving as Geocity’s entrance.

There are temporary tent-like structures near the entrance to Geocity on the snowfield, serving as the base for the Snowfield Expedition Team. In addition to large tents for storage and hangars, team members also have individual tents.

A significant portion of data in Geocity was lost during the chaos at the end of the Sunset Era. The robots have not yet fully mapped the city’s layout and have no complete control over some discovered facilities.

Looming Crisis

The snowfield above Geocity moves like glaciers, causing earthquakes and damage to the city’s upper structures. Consequently, infrastructures are frequently breaking and require repairs.

Currently, assets under the central server’s management cannot sustain the long-term survival of the robot civilization, and many critical supplies are running out. Most robots ignore this reality, choosing instead to escape into the virtual universe while awaiting their inevitable demise. Only a small number of robots continue to work in the real world to maintain the city’s operation and attempt to restore more functions of their civilization.
