Tonyn (full name: Tonyn Midnight, Chinese: 子夜冬临 or 冬临) is a rat-type robot from the Evernight Era. He is a blunt and short-tempered engineer from the Robot Engineers Association, currently serves as a guest engineer in Snowfield Expedition Teams.

Origin

Tonyn comes from the Midnight (Chinese: 子夜) family. He is a member of the Robot Engineers Association. His name and appearance are inspired by Tonyn, the designer who created Alice‘s look and acted as her guardian according to Aizu worship legends.

Personality

Straightforward and blunt, with a short fuse: Tonyn is a straightforward robot who speaks bluntly and has a hot temper. He expects others to be on the same page when it comes to knowledge, and if they can’t keep up, he becomes very irritated.

Lonely and struggles with teamwork: Tonyn finds it hard to trust others when it comes to his professional field and tends to handle most tasks alone. This mindset negatively affects his work progress.

Grounded in reality: Tonyn despises life in Virtual Universe and sees it as a waste of precious time and resource. He lives in the real world most of the time.

Awareness of crisis: Tonyn is acutely aware of the Robot Civilization‘s looming crisis and feels a strong sense of urgency about it. He is pessimistic about Geocity‘s future under Robot Engineers Association‘s mismanagement, believing that their policies will result in disaster sooner or later.

Experienced and adaptive engineer: Tonyn is an experienced engineer who has designed various robotic bodies and tools for the Snowfield Expedition Teams and Geocity Volunteers. While not the most talented in the Robot Engineers Association, he stands out for his real-world experience in producing, assembling, and servicing many of his own designs. He is very good at improvising with limited resources.

Efficient body design: Tonyn’s body features four arms that typically fold into a cape-like structure to regulate temperature. When working, he can use all four arms simultaneously to enhance efficiency.

Eloquent debater: Tonyn has engaged in intense debates with members of the Robot Engineers Association for a long time, honing his debating skills.

Life

Guest Engineer of Snowfield Expedition Teams: Tonyn is a guest engineer for the Snowfield Expedition Teams, designing various robotic bodies and tools while maintaining their equipment. He also actively participates in defending against attacks from the Snow Bandits. During his team’s rest periods at base, he often visits Geocity to help the Volunteers with their technical issues.

Creating of an alternative industrial ecosystem: Tonyn is dedicated to excavating and restoring Sunset Era industrial equipment, aiming to create an alternative industrial ecosystem independent of Geocity to improve the disaster resistance of the Robot Civilization. However, the progress is slow due to limited information and support from other engineers. By the time Alice woke up, only trial production of power generation and some basic materials had been achieved.

Relationships

Zoey the Robot Sable, Tonyn’s colleague and close friend: Tonyn and Zoey the Robot Sable are both members of the Robot Engineers Association and good friends. They have collaborated for a long time before joining the association. As an experienced mechanical engineer, Tonyn can turn Zoey’s tricky designs into reality. While they appreciate each other’s skills, their life philosophies differ greatly.

Other members of Robot Engineers Association: Tonyn is a member of the Robot Engineers Association but disagrees with its current direction, believing it wastes resources on pointless Virtual Universe projects. He has openly criticized the Association’s misconducts, causing himself to be distanced by most members, even leading to hostility from many former colleagues.

Alice, a robot from the Sunset Era: Upon meeting Alice, Tonyn repaired and upgraded her deteriorated body. He saw her as a like-minded comrade and recognized qualities in her that he lacked. Thus, he chose to provide long-term technical support for Alice, hoping she can inspire change in the stagnant civilization.

Cloud the Robot Rabbit, Tonyn’s robotic body tester: Tonyn is the engineeer of Cloud‘s robotic body that packed with innovative ideas and new technologies. As a tester, Cloud often uses the body in ways that exceed Tonyn’s expectations.

Members of Snowfield Expedition Teams and Geocity Volunteers: Both the Snowfield Expedition Teams and Geocity Volunteers rely heavily on Tonyn’s assistance but often hesitate to ask for help due to embarrassment and fear of his temper. They only reach out to him when things are falling apart. Nevertheless, Tonyn respects both the Teams and the Volunteers, and he is always willing to help whenever they contact him.

Snow bandits: Tonyn has nothing good to say about the Snow Bandits. He views them as parasites that jeopardize the revival of the robot civilization.
