Spirit items (Chinese: 灵器) are objects embedded with spell marks that can be activated by injecting spirit power. Spirit animals use them to assist daily life.
Principles
Spell mark embedding: Spirit spells work by transforming spirit power into other forms of energy. Spirit animals can cast spells by controlling spirit power with their minds or drawing spell marks. Spell marks can be embedded in objects, to cast the spell, simply inject spirit power to the pre-made marks – no additional control or redrawing is needed, thus simplifying the process. Objects with embedded spell marks are called spirit items.
Spell mark degradation: Spell mark degradation: Spirit marks on items need spirit power to stay intact. Without replenishment, the marks will gradually fade away.
Residual power
Residual spirit power in spirit items: When a spirit animal uses a spirit item to cast spells, some of their power becomes trapped within the item. This altered power cannot be reused by the original caster but helps maintain the integrity of the spell marks.
Spirit item archeology: Spirit items that have been used frequently over a long period of time will accumulate enormous residual spirit power. Spirit items made by prehistoric spirit animals can still retain a notable amount of spirit power after ten thousand years of degradation. These residual powers may also contain the emotions and memories of the caster. Modern spirit animals can uncover clues about lost spells by analyzing ancient items, inferring past events through the emotions and memories within the residual power.
Spirit power inheritance
In rare cases, humans who touch spirit animal relics may inherit their residual power, becoming spirit animals themselves. The cause of this phenomenon is unclear but could be related to karma. New products like Smart Spirit Bands even incorporate human technology, providing a variety of functionalities.
