Alice (fullname: Alice Rosetta, Chinese: 爱理诗 “Love, Science, and Aesthetics”) is a robot and a student in Class 3 of Grade 5 at Zhizheng Primary School. She serves as the assistant manager of the class’s experimental farm.
Origin
Alice is the first robot in history to possess true artificial intelligence. Developed by a United Nations project, she actively participates in space exploration and various global collaborations.
Personality
Alice has the mental age of a 10-year-old child. She is curious and eager to put her ideas into action. Bold and assertive in her beliefs, she often finds herself in trouble due to her reckless nature.
Alice takes pride in being the first true artificial intelligence robot and an astronaut, often calling herself a “good young science advocate.” She views modern scientific findings as absolute truth and shows contempt for any mention of supernatural phenomena.
Due to the limited funding from the United Nations for the Alice Project and her visits to underprivileged areas, Alice adopted a quite frugal lifestyle. She strives to minimize waste of electricity and consumables, often borrowing power and internet when outside. Additionally, she crafts many of her own body parts and becomes irritated when classmates accidentally damage her belongings, which makes her appear quite stingy.
Specialties
Alice is skilled at tinkering with mechanical and electronic devices. She has excellent hands-on ability, allowing her to maintain, repair, create, and modify them. Her child-sized hands help her handle small and hard-to-reach parts that adults may struggle with.
A fast learner and highly motivated, Alice has developed a unique intuition through practice, often picking up new skills without prior instruction. She also uses her unique advantage as a robot to quickly read a lot of books to understand human culture.
Alice’s long-term observation of geopolitical games on the UN stage gives her a good sense of the big picture and strategic thinking, though she mainly applies this talent to mischief at the moment.
As a robot, Alice is immune to spells like human detection and mind confusion. She is cheerful, outgoing, inquisitive, and has sharp eyes for observation. She often appears unexpectedly in inconvenient places at inconvenient times, causing headaches for the spirit animals.
Life
In space, Alice typically resides at the Laputa Space Station, awaiting missions.
On Earth, Alice travels the world for UN missions. She typically stays with local UN staff and is known as “the community daughter.”
But most of the time, she stays in Dongguan, China, where she is designed and manufactured.
Alice’s project headquarters is in the Songshan Lake Hi-Tech Industry Zone, but she doesn’t live there. Her main engineer, Zoey, who created her, is too busy to care for her and entrusts Alice to his good friend Tonyn. Nevertheless, he tries to spend time with Alice whenever possible. He takes her to visit factories in her supply chain to learn how parts are made and brings new equipment (toys) for her to test (play) with.
Alice lives in Tonyn’s place, located in the historic old town of Guancheng near her school. Tonyn, Alice’s guardian, is a strict parent who closely monitors her mental development. He often takes her to museums and teaches her drawing to cultivate her temperament. At home, Alice has a pet rabbit named “Cloud White.”
Alice is a 5th-grade student in Class 3 at Guancheng Zhizheng Primary School. Her classmates are informally her “petit ground crew.” Class 3 is an “Experimental Class on Ecology Education,” and their head teacher, Libbie, takes them to visit agricultural and natural sites. Alice serves as an assistant manager of the class’s experimental farm, where she cares for the poultry.
In summer and winter holidays, Alice participates in humanitarian aid operations under the coordination of the United Nations, following Doctor Guan from the Red Cross and Red Crescent as her mentor.
Alice often encounters spirit animals in their anthro forms or during transformations—”states that should never be seen by humans.” Fortunately, she is blinded by her labels like “the pinnacle of human technology,” “the first true AI robot,” and “UN Young Ambassador of Science.” Determined to interpret the world through her understanding of “science,” she dismisses these sightings as visual glitches, giving the spirit animals a chance to react. Yet, every time Alice appears unexpectedly, the hearts of the spirit animals skip a beat.
Relationships
Feiya, Alice’s classmate: Feiya and Alice are task partners and good friends, and their relationship is close and harmonious. Feiya writes drivers for Alice to integrate all kinds of devices into her body for testing (messing around), while also teaching her basic programming.
Leiting, Alice’s classmate: Alice sees Leiting as a nuisance – she likes to mess with things she isn’t supposed to touch, and is particularly good at breaking them – including Alice’s robotic body and equipment. One of her pranks caused Alice’s battery to catch fire, damaging her body. As a result, Alice had to use a robotic sweeper as a temporary body for weeks. Since then, whenever she uses the sweeper, she will intentionally ask Leiting to carry her upstairs or onto her desk. Feeling guilty, Leiting will just comply.
On the other hand, Leiting also finds Alice troublesome – Alice is too fragile, her self-promotion habit and stinginess also irritates Leiting, which leads her to tease Alice with more pranks.
Qiuye, Alice’s classmate: Alice and Qiuye both love reading and often share their thoughts on the books they’ve read. As a robot, Alice reads incredibly fast but tends to be impatient and shallow in her understanding. She gains valuable insights from Qiuye’s perspective on the same book. Meanwhile, Qiuye benefits from Alice’s extensive reading volume to discover good books. This way, they have become excellent reading partners.
Mingzhu, Alice’s classmate: Alice and Mingzhu have contrasting personalities. Alice has a strong sense of mission, while Mingzhu is absolutely carefree. Mingzhu enjoys food, while Alice cannot eat. They spend much time together as Mingzhu practices martial arts and cooking with Tonyn every week. Initially, Alice found Mingzhu silly, but she grew to appreciate her relaxed demeanor. When Qiuye is absent, Alice looks after Mingzhu instead. Mingzhu, on the other hand, teaches Alice some basic martial arts moves and techniques.
Libbie, Alice’s head teacher: Libbie pays special attention to Alice, as a thinking robot is new to everyone. She organizes the class to help Alice fit in and feels relieved when she does well despite occasional mishaps. Alice behaves well around Libbie, but Libbie sees through her mischievous nature.
Zoey, Alice’s main engineer: Zoey treats Alice like his daughter. Due to his busy work schedule and frequent business trips, he entrusts her care to Tonyn. However, when in Dongguan, he occasionally brings her new gadgets for testing (toys to play with) or takes her to factories to learn about how things (especially herself) are made. If Alice behaves well, he beams with pride and boasts, “My daughter did this and that.” As a parent who spoils his child, Zoey prioritizes Alice’s creativity but neglects her manners. Consequently, Alice often pushes boundaries with her mischievous behavior.
Tonyn, Alice’s main appearance designer and guardian: Tonyn raises Alice as his own daughter, spending much time reading books on parenting and psychology. He is a strict parent who does not tolerate Alice’s naughty behaviors. Alice would behave when he is around.
During holidays, Tonyn takes Alice to museums and cultural landmarks. He sometimes brings her to his friend’s tailor shop, where she can design and create her own clothing.
Tonyn faces a dilemma about whether to address Alice’s stubborn denial about the Spirit Animals. On one hand, her self-deception hinders her growth as a person. On the other hand, maintaining the status quo allows spirit animals to keep their secrets, but lying to his child makes him uncomfortable.
Cloud, Alice’s pet rabbit: Cloud enjoys being with Alice, behaving well around her.
Bailian, Alice’s mentor in humanitarian aid operations: Alice holds Bailian in high regard and behaves especially well around her.
A few of Alice’s close acquaintances are spirit animals in disguise. Zoey the Spirit Sable is her main engineer, Tonyn the Spirit Rat is her guardian, and Libbie the Spirit Oryx is her teacher. She sits between Leiting the Spirit Loong, Qiuye the Spirit Dhole, and Mingzhu the Spirit Shark.
